With quick, aggressive establishment even in a variety of soil types, perennial ryegrass is an important component in reducing erosion and avoiding loss of valuable topsoil on hills, slopes, and along waterways. Vigorous ryegrass lawns also quickly compete against weed populations helping to reduce the need for chemical controls.
Wear tolerant perennial ryegrass is ideal for heavily used golf course cart paths, sports turf, parks, school grounds, and all areas where foot traffic and soil compaction are common problems.
In warmer climates, perennial ryegrass is frequently used to overseed dormant warm season turfgrass providing both aesthetics and safe use during the winter months.
Fine-leafed perennial ryegrass combines well with Kentucky bluegrass. For good shade tolerance combine perennial ryegrass with fine fescue.
