Tall Fescues (Festuca arundinacea)

Tall Fescues have evolved from a forage grass to a finer-leafed, dark green, lower growing turfgrass that is outstanding for fine home lawns, recreational turf, golf course roughs and all commercial turf areas.

With a rooting depth of 3-6 feet, tall fescues avoid drought by tapping deep moisture making them an excellent choice where water quality and quantity are considerations. Tall fescues exhibit full sun performance, good shade tolerance, little thatch production and mix exceptionally well with 5-10% Kentucky Smooth Stalked Meadow Grass. Lower growing varieties, such as Farandole are increasingly popular for renovation and turf installation. Their reduced vertical growth habit means fewer clippings and less frequent mowing.

For residential and commercial turf, turf production and sports turf, roadsides and reclamation projects, turf-type tall fescues offer quality, performance and require less maintenance than most other turfgrass species.
